Polygamy?

This point of view just came to me yesterday for some reason.

Perhaps one could view the allowance of polygamy in Islam through the lens of early feminism. It could be a way of saying :

" Yeah if u still wanna go & f*ck around even though you're married then go ahead; but you're gonna have to marry that woman too. You gotta treat her well, provide for her & care for her as you do your wife. There aint no such thing as free bonus 'ride' for you, honey!
And if you STILL wanna go ahead and pursue that subsequent marriage, you can only do so with blessing from your wife. If she is kind or unconditionally patient then fine, you're safe. Otherwise you'll find yourself facing divorce, annulment or other forms of dissolution and by that you have already incurred the wrath & heartache of God for executing His least favoured of righteous acts."

Just a thought.

  1. are you rationalizing the idea polygamy in the context of the modern life? you've put my exact thoughts on the matter exactly though..

  2. free bonus 'ride'??? i dont know what sort of men you've been around, your whole life, but most men dont think of women that way. perhaps u're one of those who sees herself in that light. but believe me. we do not see u ladies like that.

you can only do so with blessing from your wife.??? hahahaha. seriously. The man is the leader in the household. he makes the choices. please be isteri yang solehah and follow orders. That is if u are a proper Muslim, la.

hahahaha. believe me.. the threats of "yourself facing divorce, annulment or other forms of dissolution" are impractical for the woman. Besides.. under Malaysian syariah law, men can escape most negative consequences almost scot free. Don't believe me? Read up. Man, its awesome being a Muslim guy. :)

wrath & heartache of God? hahaha. nicely assigning human emotions to God. Blasphemy.

"His least favoured of righteous acts." ?
Who are you to know the mind of God?

  3. from what i've learnt, 'talak' or divorce is one halal/allowed act that God hates... i'v read hadith that said so...we even learn that in school. you can look it up. it also says something like, everytime a muslim invokes talak, His Arasy is shaken...

yeah, the state of shariah law everywhere is sad...mostly being corrupted by the people 'enforcing' the laws & political agenda...just like any other. but that is not what it says in the Quran & hadith, not how its supposed to be.

and yes, man is the head of the household...but as far as i know (at least in msia shariah courts) to marry another woman you need the permission, presence and signed consent by the 1st wife. so when i said 'blessing of your wife' i was referring to this.
